We are committed to ensuring that our training programme is accessible to as many people as possible and are now offering part-time routes into teaching on both the salaried and non-salaried School Direct programme.
Part-time trainees will train three days a week (Wednesday – Friday) and the course will run from September 2020 to December 2021.
The part-time route will contain all the same elements of our full-time training programme, including the school-based training, centre-based training and academic study, as well as a second placement in a different setting and key stage. However, the distribution of school-based and centre-based training varies at different points in the course, to best support the trainees’ progress.
Part-time trainees will attend the same core training sessions as the full-time trainees to help them feel part of the main cohort, and to give them equal opportunities to benefit from peer support and the sharing of ideas and good practice. This training will take place during the first three terms, enabling trainees to spend three days a week in school during the fourth and final term, giving them the opportunty to benefit from sustained teaching practice, prior to their NQT induction.
As with our full-time courses, part-time trainees have the option of studying for a PGCE on both the salaried and non-salaried route.
